The goal of the event is to boost awareness of the manufacturing industry through “Koma (spintop) fight” competitions. Using professional tools, “big” adults, who are highly skilled engineers and craftsmen, will put their soul and skills into designing and making the best Koma to engage in Koma (spintop) battles.

Their design and fighting skills will be an expression of their pride and also humor. We hope this will gain a lot of interest from the media and appear on many TV shows and documentaries.

Kenji Midorikawa Chairman All-Japan Koma Taisen Manufacturing Industry Association
What is Koma Taisen?

What is Koma Taisen?

Koma Taisen is a tournament that gather together small and medium sized manufacturing association (SME's) from all Japan. These companies put all their soul in designing and making Koma (spintop) to participate in spintop fight battles.

The Koma (spintop) must have a diameter of 20mm or less, overall length is up to 60 mm. These small Koma (spintop) are designed and created with highly sophisticated unique “in-house” manufacturing techniques from participants from all over Japan. Koma (spintop), are great because at first glance you can not notice the initial quality, however they have been manufactured with professional precision.

The Koma enter the ring against their competitor and collide with each to fight to determine the winner. The overall winner of the competition will win all the Koma (spintop) from all the other participating competitors.

What is the purpose of all this?

This is not about making business but to promote the prosperity of the manufacturing industry through competition of Koma showcasing skills and technology.

Many small companies have not had the opportunity to product any of their own products because they are normally subcontracted to large technology companies.

Koma Taisen motivates these small companies to create Koma (spintop) that will participate of Koma (spintops) battles where people can see the games, and thus the small manufacturing industry can be given the opportunity to show and promote their companies high professional skills to the world.

What kind of Koma can I use?

Any shape, weight or material are allowed as long as the diameter of the Koma (spintop) is less than 20mm. However the Koma (spintop) can only rotate on one point. If it rotates on two or more points it cannot be used to participate.

What are the rules?

  • The last spintop still spinning in the ring is declared the winner.
  • A participant loses if his/her spintop goes outside the ring.
  • The game finishes if a participant wins twice in a row.
  • The winner takes all the other participant's spintops.
